Association Revenue

Reviewed: August 2026

The WeatherXM Network Association operates with financial transparency. All protocol revenues flow into public on-chain treasury multi-sig accounts and are audited on a regular basis.

Primary Revenue Streams

The Association generates revenue from two structural protocol activities:

  1. Hardware Onboarding Fees: Mandatory $100 USD fee paid by certified manufacturers for each device onboarded to the network.
  2. Commercial Data Licensing: Fees paid by enterprise organizations that win annual commercial auctions for rights to commercialize the aggregated Network Dataset.

Revenue Utilization

All funds collected by the Association Treasury are governed under Swiss non-profit association rules and deployed strictly in furtherance of the statutory purpose:

  • Ecosystem & Protocol Development: Funding open software, calibration rigs, and firmware security.
  • Station Reward Security: Reinforcing token reward pools and protocol stability.
  • Treasury Buybacks: Strategic open-market operations to support network growth and protocol alignment.
